What I did
For this project, I was brought in early enough to write a couple drafts of the script. It was passed around between product marketers and subject matter experts. Eventually, we ended up with this script that hits every point the stakeholders wanted in about 2 minutes.
Finding the right stock footage that makes sense without being distracting was key to this project for a few reasons. First, with the majority of the story being told through simple icons, I needed a moving background to keep the visuals interesting, but it was important to keep them relevant to the subject rather than an abstract background. Secondly, the blending of solid (or gradient) layers and stock footage to both enhance and dull the backgrounds enough for text to be readable. Context is important when making all of these decisions.
