What I did
GME = Graduate Medical Education
(Where graduates get hands training in a hospital environment; think Scrubs)
This 60-second piece is a shortened, non-VO version made using b-roll I shot for the overall, extended GME videos featuring the teaching physicians and program leaders. The extended version is a lovely video, but it is longer and filled with talking heads. The shortened piece was used as the attention grabber to lead to the longer video in a series for GME program which included surgery (seen here), internal medicine and obstetrics & gynecology.
Like many projects at Boyden & Youngblutt, this was unscripted when we went into production. I shot multiple interviews, and in between, I was ushered around the hospital campus to capture b-roll. I then found the story through editing. In this case, it was a paper cut that I worked on with the copywriter, and then refined in the editing room.
The copywriter and I created a short script that could tell part of the story without a voice-over. With that script and the b-roll I had already shot, I went to work creating this piece meant for social media to attract graduate students to consider Parkview’s inaugural GME program.
